Who was that 4th string backup last year that got called into the game in the 3rd. He was like a fan and had a pretty good 3rd period.

Al Montoya was a pretty good back-up for a few years and the Oilers have him buried in the AHL. If they can get Montoya for a conditional 7th, I'd look at him too.

He has played one game this year. He is a capable goalie in this league, and if he wasn't the back up here, he would be the backup some place else.

If this was a long term injury then yes I would be concerned, I don't think Sparks is starting goalie material. But again let's make this judgement on Sparks abilities 5 or 10 starts into the year, not start 2.
